Who is Zoe Russell? 

 

 

Zoe Russell is an APA Sports and Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist who joined the PhysioWorks team in 2008.  A highly experienced Physiotherapist, Zoe has completed postgraduate studies in Sports and Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy in addition to her undergraduate dual degree qualification in Physiotherapy and Exercise Science. Zoe is recognised by the Australian Physiotherapy Association as a Titled Sports and Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist.

Zoe is a friendly Physiotherapist who utilises her advanced knowledge of the human body and how it operates in health and injury to help her patients recover. Zoe focuses her injury management by combining her Physiotherapy and Exercise Science knowledge to provide a multifaceted approach to treating your injury, focusing on how and why injury happens, how to fix the injury and to prevent injury recurrence. Her experience and knowledge of sporting biomechanics and the demands of both elite and recreational sporting pursuits, allows her to diagnose, treat and help you recover more quickly!

 

Zoe is currently the Head Physiotherapist to the following teams:

  • Australian Indoor Netball Federation
  • Indoor Netball Federation of Queensland

Zoe has had previous appointments with the following organisations:

  • New Zealand Indoor Netball
  • South Africa Indoor Netball
  • Queensland Academy of Sport - Rugby League 
  • Northside Wizards Basketball

 

Zoe’s experience is not only limited to her role as a Sports Physiotherapist! Zoe is also a National level Indoor Netball player, who has represented Australia. When she is not at PhysioWorks, Zoe enjoys an active lifestyle, in addition to her Netball commitments for Queensland and Australia, Zoe also swims, attends the gym, and plays a number of recreational sports.

 

What does APA Sports and Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist Title mean?

 

A physiotherapist is only entitled to use the APA Sports Physiotherapist or APA Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist title, after completion of a Masters Degree in the field of Sports or Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy. Additionally, a Physiotherapist must satisfy the requirements of the Australian Physiotherapy Association, who regulate who receives the title.

Titled Physiotherapists have proven themselves as highly skilled and knowledgeable practitioners, which provides you, the patient, with the confidence that you will receive high quality evidence-based care.
