Brendan Scott brings his passion and attention to detail to his remedial massage and kinesiology service, resulting in a complete and satisfying experience for his clients. After completing a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in 1997, Brendan initially worked in psychological support for chronic pain sufferers. His work included being a Lifeline consultant. He subsequently graduated with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy in 2008 and worked as a clinical physiotherapist. He also established his Personal Training business but was always drawn back to hands-on care. Brendan received his Diploma in Remedial Massage in 2008. Subsequently, he worked as a Course Leader at the highly regarded Q Academy Massage School in Brisbane. He believes that each body has a unique and particular pattern for developing and holding tension. This philosophy led him to study kinesiology and add that skill set to his consultations.
This holistic education has provided Brendan with a unique combination of healing options. He possesses an excellent feel for his massage craft with a flow that will leave his clients feeling calm and relaxed. The power of his massage work comes in his ability to assess and manipulate the muscle, tendons and fascial structures of the body.
In his work, Brendan thrives on finding a suitable treatment pattern for his clients. Brendan’s priority is that each client has a better understanding of their condition and has a therapeutic program to address their particular needs.
Brendan Scott provides his professional services as an independently owned and operated business. ABN 48 615 818 573. PhysioWorks does not own or operate Brendan’s business.
Special Interests
Brendan’s particular interest areas are remedial and sports massage, kinesiology and massage protocols for psychological stress, anxiety and depression and massage applications to manage chronic pain.
Remedial Sports Massage
Being a former representative athlete himself, Brendan is familiar with the many approaches massage can be used for race preparation, training recovery and injury management. Clients enjoy his unique techniques and philosophy to managing iliotibial band syndrome, knee pain, and calf pain. He also has a way of releasing trigger points that dramatically minimises clients’ pain. Brendan has experience working as part of the sports medicine team for numerous private secondary schools, Queensland Gymnastics Championships, Parkrun, Sandgate Sunset Run and the Jetty to Jetty Fun Run.
Massage for Psychological Conditions
Psychological massage is an increasingly popular service. Brendan combines traditional massage with work on specific acupressure points related to the psychological state and emotion experienced.
Massage for Chronic Pain
Brendan believes that a massage is an underutilised tool for the management of chronic pain. Muscular pain syndromes such as fibromyalgia and Complex Regional Pain Syndrome, and post-surgical pain can be relieved with massage. Brendan uses Muscle Energy Techniques to help break down the pain-spasm-pain cycle, myofascial release and cross-fibre frictions to work on scar tissue and movement restrictions and Acupressure to help dampen down the sensitised nervous system. Massage can be used as part of a multi-disciplinary approach to prolong the time between relapse and help keep clients longer in remission and functioning.
Kinesiology
Kinesiology is a Holistic Alternative Therapy that incorporates the Meridian system’s Chinese Medicine models and the 5 Elements with Manual Muscle Testing to determine the body’s functional state. By following a standard testing protocol, your kinesiology therapist will assess and bring into balance the physical, chemical and emotional components of an injury or issue/problem.
